The True Colors of my Father’s Eyes

Long, long ago
There was so much magic in our days
And long, long ago
Shadows never lingered in his gaze

Lately, I just can’t remember
The true colors of my father’s eyes
Seems to me life was much brighter
When he flashed a smile
Funny, as I’ve grown older
Can’t say that I’ve grown wiser
I miss his strong shoulder
Where I used to cry

Not so long ago
I’d take him for a walk in the park
And not so long ago
We’d sit and laugh and talk till dark

Lately, I just can’t remember
The true colors of my father’s eyes
Seems to me our dreams were bluer
Than the bluest skies
Memories keep growing dimmer
No matter how hard I try
I wish he’d come back from
Where he went without saying goodbye

Long, long ago
There wasn’t so much sorrow in my face
And long, long ago
There wasn’t so much anger in my embrace
Long, long ago
Shadows never lingered in his gaze
And long, long ago
There was so much magic in our days
